Why is it free?
We record first-person cleaning footage to help train the next generation of household robots. That data is valuable enough for us to offer cleaning free of charge for a limited time.
What happens to my data?
We anonymize the footage, process it, and license it for AI and robotics training. It is never shared publicly and never used for advertising.
Is my privacy protected?
Yes. Names, faces and personal information are automatically anonymized, with sensitive details blurred before anything is used. We blur all personally identifiable information — from screens and ID cards to paper and phones.
Who are the cleaners?
Independent cleaning professionals vetted by our partners. They are not employees of shift — shift is a technology platform that connects you with independent professionals, not a cleaning company.
Is there anything I need to do?
You need to be there to greet the cleaners, explain what you'd like cleaned, and give permission for recording during the appointment. For specific preferences, bring your own products.
Is there any cost?
No, the service is free. We only require payment information in case you're not present when cleaners arrive or you refuse service after they've arrived.
Can I reschedule or cancel?
Yes, up to 24 hours before your appointment at no charge. With less notice, or if no one lets the cleaners in, you may be charged.
